Our school district will launch a community survey to gather your valuable input on how to best address our operational and facility needs. Surveys will be landing in mailboxes approximately the week of November 11 and are due December 4, 2024.
The School District of Osceola needs your input to address two challenges:
1. Funding from the operational referendum voters approved in 2022 was used to maintain student programs and services. This funding has expired, and the District cut $1.3 million this past spring. Without replacement funding, more budget cuts will be needed.
School funding can be complex, so we put together 🔗a short video with a quick overview to give you some context before the survey arrives. This is just a brief summary, not a deep dive, but we hope it’s helpful!
2. This past spring, a facilities referendum did not receive voter support. The plan would have reconfigured the District into three schools by expanding the Intermediate School. The Board of Education respects the community’s decision and will not pursue this plan at this time. Instead, we’ve developed a lower-cost option to address the challenges of the aging Elementary School.
We’re partnering with School Perceptions, an independent education research firm, to ensure that all responses remain confidential and to provide advanced statistical analysis. This approach helps us understand and act on the insights you share with confidence.
Your feedback is incredibly important to us, as it will help shape decisions that impact our students, staff, and community.
